FSAVP, a pipe wrapper for F-Secure Anti-Virus.
This script is a substitute for AMaViS that allows fsav to be used as message filter with MTAs like Courier and Exim. In the same style as SpamAssassin, the fsavp script inserts the X-Virus-Flag header.

Somewhat Recent Bug Stomping:
- An optimized Linux video driver for early macintosh computers with monochrome frame buffers. It is several times faster than the generic fbcon-mac driver, and runs the Macintosh ProFont at a comfortable speed. Beta quality.

The ACCPAC Simply Accounting File Format (PDF, 57 kB).
This is an excerpt from a paper that I wrote while reversing the file formats used by the Simply Accounting desktop software package (version 7C). It should be enough to get anybody with a related problem started.
-
Electronic Surveillance and Perrow's Job Class Typology (PDF, 20 kB).
This is a quickie essay written as a CS 492 (Social Implications) assignment. The instructor thought that the main idea was interesting, so I have posted the document here. Only section 4 is worth reading.

Excessive Collaboration Debunked (TXT, 5 kB).
This was a newsgroup troll that was unusually successful. People were throwing stones and roses for several weeks after the post.

CDRecord 2.0 for Microsoft Windows
-
LAME 3.92 for Microsoft Windows
From the same source and without nasm, the MSVC6 compiler produces a proper win32 executable that encodes data 35% faster than the cygwin executable produced by GCC. Each executable does, however, produce very different output files. (I can't tell for better or worse.)
This version of LAME is perceptually transparent if the "--vbr-new -q 0" switches are set, which means that expert listeners can not distinguish the MP3 output from the original input in blind quality tests. Note that you may need a patent license to use this software in your jurisdiction.
